CHEEKY MONKEYS — VR MULTIPLAYER GAME
Last updated: March 26, 2026
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE BEFORE PLAYING CHEEKY MONKEYS.
Cheeky Monkeys is a physically active VR game that requires vigorous arm movements. Failure to follow safety guidelines can result in serious physical injury, property damage, or health complications.
Cheeky Monkeys uses arm-based locomotion — you move through the virtual world by physically swinging and pushing off surfaces with your arms. This is an intense physical activity similar to exercise. Before playing, be aware that:
— The game requires vigorous, repetitive arm movements including swinging, reaching, pushing, and rapid hand motions.
— Extended play sessions can cause muscle fatigue, soreness, and strain in your arms, shoulders, back, and wrists.
— Players may experience sweating, elevated heart rate, and shortness of breath during intense gameplay.
If you have any pre-existing medical conditions — including heart conditions, respiratory issues, joint problems, muscle disorders, or any condition that may be aggravated by physical activity — consult your doctor before playing.
Because Cheeky Monkeys involves rapid arm movements and physical activity, your play environment is critical:
Clear your play area. Remove all objects, furniture, pets, and people from your immediate surroundings. You need at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) of clear space in all directions.
Check your surroundings regularly. Your play area may change during a session. People or pets may enter your space without you noticing.
Use the Meta Quest Guardian system. Always set up the Guardian boundary before playing. Do not ignore boundary warnings during gameplay.
Be aware of ceiling height. Reaching upward during gameplay can result in hitting ceiling fans, light fixtures, or low ceilings.
Secure your headset. Ensure your Meta Quest headset is properly fitted and tightened. A loose headset can fly off during vigorous movement.
Use wrist straps on controllers. If using controllers, always use wrist straps. Controllers can slip from sweaty hands during intense gameplay.
Avantos Games is NOT responsible for any physical injury, property damage, or harm to others that occurs as a result of playing Cheeky Monkeys. You play entirely at your own risk. This includes but is not limited to: hitting objects or people, tripping, falling, muscle injuries, repetitive strain injuries, and damage to your surroundings.
Virtual reality can cause motion sickness, nausea, dizziness, and discomfort in some users. Cheeky Monkeys' locomotion system may increase these effects because movement is driven by your physical actions rather than traditional controls.
Stop playing immediately if you experience any of the following: nausea or queasiness, dizziness or vertigo, headache, eye strain or blurred vision, excessive sweating (beyond normal exercise), disorientation, or any general discomfort.
If symptoms persist after stopping, do not resume playing and consult a medical professional. Do not drive, operate machinery, or engage in activities requiring balance until symptoms have fully resolved.
PHOTOSENSITIVE SEIZURE WARNING: A very small percentage of people may experience seizures or blackouts when exposed to certain light patterns or flashing lights, including in video games and VR experiences. This can occur even in people with no prior history of seizures or epilepsy.
Stop playing immediately and consult a doctor if you experience: involuntary muscle movements, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness or consciousness, confusion, or convulsions.
Parents: Monitor children for signs of seizure symptoms. Children and teenagers are more likely to experience photosensitive seizures than adults.
The repetitive arm movements in Cheeky Monkeys can lead to repetitive strain injuries (RSI), tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other musculoskeletal disorders, especially during extended play sessions.
To reduce the risk of injury:
— Take regular breaks. We recommend taking a 10-15 minute break every 30 minutes of gameplay.
— Stretch before and after playing. Warm up your arms, wrists, shoulders, and back before intense sessions.
— Stop if you feel pain. Pain, tingling, numbness, or burning in your hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck, or back is a sign to stop immediately.
— Stay hydrated. Drink water before, during, and after playing.
— Don't play while exhausted. Fatigue increases the risk of injury and reduces spatial awareness.
While wearing a VR headset, you cannot see the real world. Be aware of these risks:
— Tripping hazards: Cables, rugs, toys, or uneven flooring can cause falls.
— Collision hazards: Walls, furniture, windows, TVs, monitors, and other hard objects can cause injury when struck during vigorous arm movements.
— Other people and pets: Others in the room may not realize you cannot see them. This is especially dangerous with small children and pets.
— Strangulation hazard: If using a tethered headset setup, cables can wrap around your body or neck during active gameplay.
Meta recommends that children under 10 should not use VR headsets. Cheeky Monkeys is designed for players aged 13 and older. Younger teens should be supervised by a parent or guardian, especially during their first play sessions. Parents should ensure the play area is safe and monitor for signs of discomfort or overexertion.
By playing Cheeky Monkeys, you acknowledge and agree that:
— You understand VR gaming is a physically active experience with inherent risks.
